Oil and Gas Job in Malaysia 2012 Senior Geophysicist (development background)

1 KEY OBJECTIVES
1.1. Carries out 3D seismic interpretation and attribute analysis for development wells.
1.2. Apply quantitative interpretation techniques such as seismic reservoir characterization and AVO analysis, seismic inversion to optimize exploration, appraisal and development of hydrocarbon pools.
1.3. Provide geophysics support to well drilling operations. Assists in planning and optimizing well trajectories using seismic data.
1.4. Jointly gathers transfers and organizes seismic data and interpreted information onto database systems.
1.5. Extends geophysical interpretation methods that have been calibrated against existing developed field data into adjacent areas with development potential.
1.6. Prepares seismic interpretation and information for well prognosis and End of Well reports.
1.7. Provide input to reservoir delineation, resource assessment, geological modeling and field development planning.
1.8. Applies depth conversion to time interpretations with thorough understanding and application of velocity models as determined from VSP and geological data.
1.9. Provide management support information for the compilation of regular progress reports, project status and presentation to Management, partners and Government agencies.
1.10. Provide training and mentoring of technical knowledge and skills development for more junior geophysicists.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
1.1. Responsible for loading new well data and trajectories with periodic updates.
1.2. Responsible for carrying out seismic interpretations and mappings which are used in the field development plans, well prognosis and development wells drilling.
1.3. Responsible for generating new ideas and identify opportunities that can be used to optimize well targets and trajectories.
1.4. Responsible for optimizing well trajectories in relation to seismic interpretations.
1.5. Responsible for preparing presentation materials that integrates seismic interpretations into overall field development plans.
1.6. Provides geophysical input into pre-drill well proposals and post-drill well reports.

KEY AUTHORITIES
1. As provided/assigned by Subsurface Team Leader
WORKING RELATIONSHIP
2. Coordinate with all disciplines of the project team members in Field Development along with the Drilling Department.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
1.1. Relevant Degree with a preference for post graduate qualifications.
1.2. Minimum of 15 years experience mostly spent with an E and P Company.
1.3. Advance level in workstation skills in 3D seismic interpretation.
1.4. Skilled in seismic data calibration, reservoir characterization and hydrocarbon detection from seismic.
1.5. Applied geophysical experience in working with cross-functional teams on reservoir and field development activities associated with stacked oil and gas pays.
1.6. Good working knowledge in geology with emphasis on structural and stratigraphic interpretation skills.
1.7. Good understanding of seismic data acquisition and processing methods in offshore settings along with their impact on data interpretation accuracy and validity.
1.8. Demonstrated experience in presenting seismic interpretation analysis & results to Management, Partners and Government agencies.
1.9. Fluent in English-written and spoken. Ability to write high caliber/quality technical reports
